Kibbutz Shamir, Israel, June 16th, 2010 - Shamir Optical Industry Ltd. (Nasdaq: SHMR) ("Shamir"), a leading provider of innovative products and technology to the ophthalmic lens market, today confirmed, in response to an article published in an Israeli newspaper that it is conducting preliminary discussions with Essilor International about a potential transaction in connection of which Shamir will be delisted.

 In light of the preliminary stage of the discussions, there can be no assurance that an agreement will be reached or that a transaction between the parties will occur. Shamir does not currently intend to comment further about this matter until such time, if ever, that it enters into a definitive agreement providing for the completion of the transaction.

 

Shamir launches Glacier Plus™, its enhanced, highly durable AR coating
