Shamir continually enhances its capabilities to develop unique products and related tools designed to optimize production processes. To do so, the company persistently develops new algorithms for optimizing and analyzing lenses. This process entails identifying optical metrics previously not taken into consideration in order to develop innovative algorithms incorporating these optical qualities.

Once these algorithms are in place, the software team utilizes them for developing complementary, world-renowned proprietary software for lens design. It then transfers the software to the design team. Capable of simulating human vision, Shamir’s innovative technologies optimize the design of progressive and aspheric lenses, and minimize distortion. Shamir's latest  technological development is its Direct Lens Technology™. This freeform lens manufacturing technology consists of hardware and Shamir’s comprehensive Prescriptor™ software for lens computation available to third parties.
