Originally established as a manufacturer of bi-focal lenses, within a decade’s time Shamir ranked

In 2003 Shamir made
its mark again – this time with a new progressive lens based on a new technology.
Its Shamir Autograph™ caught everyone’s eye because it characterized the era of
personal lenses, thanks to Shamir’s new Direct Lens Technology™. In 2004 the
company amazed the market again with its new Shamir Creation™ lens based on
Shamir’s new Eye-Point Technology™ Wave Front Computation that simulates a far
greater number of prescription types and optical characteristics.
As a result of its technological developments, Shamir has snowballed into a global enterprise with a
competitive edge. In 1997 Shamir formed a limited partnership with Eyal Optical Industry – a
manufacturer of plastic progressive lenses. Since then, it has assumed full ownership of Eyal and
has established subsidiaries in the United States and Europe: Shamir USA (1994), Shamir Insight
Inc. (1998) and Shamir Optic GmbH (2004).
